Purpose
Unauthorized Practice of Law (UPL) is a pretty serious situation that can get you in trouble if you don't fully understand it. In most states, UPL is a felony while other states treat it as a disciplinary matter. In this assignment, you'll learn about what defines the unauthorized practice of law and, subsequently, how to protect yourself against it.
Instructions
In Chapter 2 on page 43 of your textbook is an Internet and Technology Exercise. Follow the steps for this exercise to determine how UPL is treated in Indiana.
Grading Criteria
This assignment will be graded with the following criteria:
- Most current version of the Model Rules of Professional Conduct published by the American Bar Association are present.
- Most current version of ethical rules used in your jurisdiction present.
- Three ethics opinions are present.
- Indiana's statute on UPL is present.
- A 1 paragraph summary of how UPL is treated in Indiana is included.
