For this assignment you will be answering the questions below for the data analysis part of Project 3. These questions can be answered by giving the answer for each question OR you can write this out in full sentence/paragraph format. For the final project this will need to be written in full sentence/paragraph format.
Information on how to write the correct claim for the test you are doing and how to analyze the data using Minitab can found found on this page Two Sample Ttests (Paired & Independent). Make sure to review these materials BEFORE completing this assignment.
Video Directions
What to include on the document you submit:
What is your claim? [Example: Cost of groceries at Walmart is lower than the cost of grocery items at Kroger.]
Is your claim the null or the alternative?
What type of test are you going to use to test this claim? Why is this test the correct one to use for this data? [For this assignment you are only using ONE type of test to analyze your data. Either a paired samples ttest or an Independent sample ttest. If you're not sure which one to use, check with me!!]
Calculate the appropriate teststatistic using Minitab and include the needed Minitab output in the document.
What is your teststatistic (tvalue) and pvalue?
What was the mean price for each store?
State your final decision There [IS or IS NOT] enough evidence to [SUPPORT or REJECT] the claim that... (insert your claim).
Is followup needed? If so, conduct the followup analysis (include Minitab output, as well as t & pvalue).
What do the final results mean in realworld terms? [Ex: Should people change where they shop based on your results?]
**Also include the Minitab file with your store data when you upload your document for this assignment. This is basically the same file you uploaded to Project 3: Collect Data, you're adding it here just so it's easier for me to check your work.**
If you collected sale prices along with regular prices and you want to compare the data using these prices, then write a brief explanation of which prices were used for which test along with the answers to the questions above. You might also want to do a couple of different tests (claims) to see if there is any difference. For example Claim 1 would be comparing regular prices and then you would do an additional claim with the sale prices.
