The first step for Project 4 is to collect the data! Similar to Project 2, for this project, each student is responsible for collecting data for the three schools they picked in Project 4: Pick Schools and entering it into a shared Google Spreadsheet.
Watch this video BEFORE collecting your data. It will show you exactly how to collect your data correctly and quickly!
Step 1: To help collect your data, print off the following worksheet - Project 4 Data Collection.docx - it can be used to write down your data and you can then add it to the Google Sheet. Then write down the names of your three schools on this sheet. If you're not sure which three schools you picked, see the following list of schools.
Step 2: Go to the Illinois Report Card website and search for one of the schools you selected.
Step 3: For that school find the correct data for each variable we are using for Project 4 and enter it into the Data Collection Sheet you printed off in Step 1. Do NOT use percent (%) signs. If the answer is 0 (Ex: 0 athletic programs) that's fine, but if no data is provided, then enter n/a on the sheet.
Note: It is VERY important that you get accurate data/numbers. If you don't, then it could mess up our entire class project, so watch the video of me showing exactly which variables we are using (above) AND double-check your numbers before finalizing this assignment!
Step 4: Repeat this process for all three of your schools.
Step 5: Once you have collected the data for all three schools, go to the Spring 2020 School Success Project spreadsheet and add your data in the correct columns. Do NOT use percent (%) signs. Double-check that your data lines up with the correct variable and school!
Step 6: Let me know you've added your data to the Spreadsheet by submitting this assignment with the following information:
- Verify that you double-checked the data and it's accurate.
- Let me know if you were surprised by any of the data/numbers you collected.
