Getting Started Checklist
Getting Started Checklist
Welcome, students! Begin the course by completing the following items.
- Download the Textbook - Introductory Statistics with Randomization and Simulation, 1st edition Download Download the Textbook - Introductory Statistics with Randomization and Simulation, 1st edition - The textbook is available via PDF for free for you to download to your computer (or other devices) and/or print. If you want to buy the textbook you can from Amazon or the College Bookstore. You are NOT required to buy the textbook for this course.
- Read & Download the Syllabus. The syllabus is not only your guide to information about this course and how it will be taught but also includes important information on how to access the different Richland Student Services you may need.
- Read the Discussion Requirement Information. There are TWO due dates for each discussion. The initial discussion is due Thursday at 11:59 pm and the follow-up discussion is due Sunday at 11:59 pm.
- Add a profile picture! We will be doing a lot of interaction in Discussions for this course and it helps when we can associate a name with a face. It would be great if everyone posted a picture of themselves, but if you're not comfortable doing that then use a picture of something that represents you (sports team, movie star, famous historical figure, hobby, etc).
- Update your Canvas notification preferences Links to an external site.! You can adjust these to your personal preferences, but my recommendation given how our course works is to make sure and set "Grading," "Submission comments," and "Conversation Message" to "Notify me right away."
- Make a Plan for Accessing Minitab Express. Minitab Express is the statistical software we'll be using for this course starting in Week 2. You can use it for free at Richland or you can download it to your own computer (PC or Mac) for $29.99 for six months. Note: Minitab Express does NOT work on Chromebooks.
- Complete the Getting Started Assignments. These assignments will make sure you're prepared to be successful in this course and need to be completed before you will be able to access the Week 1 course content.
Once you are done with everything in the "Start Here" module you'll be able to start on the Week 1 materials.
